OS es una marca de accesorios que ofrece al mundo de la moda la combinación perfecta entre el artesano y el artista en una pieza de joyería. Mezclan el uso histórico de los huesos en diferentes etnias en el mundo con las líneas limpias que demanda el contemporáneo, la supremacía en su artesanía y su publicidad bien dirigida, es una marca que te hará feliz.

He aquí una pequeña entrevista con AJ, uno de los diseñadores detrás de OS:

M_ ¿Cómo es la concepción de OS?

AJ_ OS se creó cuando Paul y yo hicimos un viaje a la Ciudad de Baguio (Filipinas) en Junio del año pasado. Vimos mucha joyería tribal en la que usaban huesos reales y pensamos que se verían bien con las cadenas que usabamos en ese tiempo. Un mes después regresamos a comprar los huesos y es como comenzó todo.

M_ ¿Cuáles son los puntos importantes a considerar para mantener una línea de accesorios en el lado “usable” de la moda?

AJ_ El diseño debe ser simple para que sea moderno. Nos esforzamos para que nuestras piezas complementen diferentes estilos de vestuario.

M_ ¿Tienen planes de hacer ropa?

AJ_ No, no por el momento. Queremos enfocarnos en los accesorios de hueso y lentamente expandirlo a accesorios para el hogar y decoración.

M_ ¿Con quién te gustaría colaborar?

AJ_ Tenemos colaboraciones constantes con nuestros amigos diseñadores y marcas independientes en Manila. Estaría genial colaborar con Nicola Formichetti o varias marcas de diseñador.

M_ ¿Qué proyectos tienen para el 2012?

AJ_ Tendremos el Vol 3 para Marzo-Abril, justo a tiempo para nuestro primer aniversario! Planeamos hacer una excelente colleción con nuevos materiales. También hay una colaboración con una marca de zapatos aquí en Manila.

OS estará en un par de Fashion Weeks en Marzo, es una nueva experiencia para OS y estamos muy emocionados por eso!

M_ ¿Cuál es el hueso más difícil de reproducir?

AJ_ Probablemente las piezas que llevan muchos huesos en el mismo collar. El Vertebrae, Invertebrae y el Spine son los más difíciles de reproducir además requieren mucho amor.

M_ ¿Cuál es la major parte de tener una línea de accesorios?

AJ_ La parte más divertida es hacer las muestras para una nueva colección/pieza, el proceso creativo de llevar el sketch a un plano tangible.

Here’s a little interview with AJ, one of the Designers behind OS:

M_ How did you guys decide to create OS? 

AJ_ OS was conceived when me and Paul made an out of town trip to Baguio city (mountain par to of the Philippines) June of last year. We saw a lot of tribal jewelries using real bones and thought it looked good with the layers of chains we were wearing during the time. A month later we came back to buy those bones and that’s how OS stared.

M_ What are the main points to consider when keeping  your accessory line in the wearable side of fashion? 

AJ_ The design should be streamlined to make it contemporary and updated. We strive to make our pieces complement different wardrobe styles. 

M_ Do you have any plans on making clothes? 

AJ_ No, not at the moment. We want to focus on bone accessories right now and slowly extend it to accessories for the home and lifestyle.  

 M_ Who would you like to collaborate with?

AJ_ We constantly collaborate with our designer friends and local indie brands in Manila. It would be amazing to collaborate with Nicola Formichetti or several designer brands. 

M_ What are your projects for 2012? 

AJ_ We are coming up with our Volume 3 by March-April just in time for our 1st year anniversary! We are planning to make it an awesome collection with new materials and better assortment. Along with this we are coming up with shoe collaborations with an independent brand here in Manila. 

Os will also be available in a couple of fashion weeks by March 2012. These are new markets that OS hasn’t had a bite yet so we are psyched! 

M_ What has been the most difficult bone to reproduce? 

AJ_Most of the time these are the pieces that have the most number of bones in one necklace. The Vertebrae, Invertebrae and the Spine Necklaces are the toughest to reproduce not to mention a work of love.

M_ What’s the best part of making accessories? 

AJ_ The most fun is actually making samples for a new collection/ piece. It’s the creative process of translating a sketch into tangible design.
